Underclassmen Want a Spring Dance

Some freshmen and sophomores at Brashier Middle College find it unfair that they do not get to have a spring dance while juniors and seniors get to have a prom.
The Junior/Senior Prom is coming up in April, so why would there not be enough time to have a spring dance before the prom? “I think if students were to approach me or Mr. Sinclair with a plan for a spring dance we would listen and try to work something out. At this time I don’t have the time to plan a spring dance and neither does he. So, if somebody else was planning it, coming to us with the details, and asking permission that would be a more doable way of doing it rather then looking to us at this point to plan it,” says Assistant Principle Trina Freeman.
Dances are important to the student body. “Spring dances are a lot of fun and it gives everybody at school a chance to hang out…not at school,” says sophomore Aleena Blasch, but she adds,“They’re a lot of fun, but it’s not necessarily priority.”
Juniors, and especially seniors, are higher ranked in the student body. They already get a prom, but a few do care about the underclassmen having a dance too. “I think it gives kids an opportunity to see things that they might see later on in life, like at balls. Of course, it is also practice for prom,” says Junior Ben Voss. “Although, it’s not like freshmen and sophomores are afraid to hang out with anybody from the upper-class. I can understand why prom would be a separate thing for upperclassmen because it’s a special deal, but I wouldn’t understand having a freshman/sophomore dance,” Voss adds.
“I believe we should have a dance,” says senior/student body president Aaron Talmage. “Personally, since prom is going to be formal, I would like to see a funky dance.”
Student Body President Aaron Talmage and Charley McCarter having their own dance in student council.

I am willing to help with the planning of a dance for underclassmen if someone can find a place to have it.^.^ I think that it would be a great experience for all of us.

why do we have to separate our dances? I understand prom, but other dances. Like a spring dance why cant that be a whole school dance for everyone?

Yes, we should definitely have a school-wide dance in addition to prom. If anybody wants to complain that it is unfair for seniors and juniors to get their own prom, they can wait their turn until they become juniors. I definitely think we should have a dance for everyone though. The money will be an issue.

I think that it doesn’t matter, if you have time, then plan a dance. But if you don’t do not worry about it. It isn’t anything too important because us freshmen and sophmores can wait. It isn’t like we wouldn’t eventually get to be a junior or senior.

I was really hoping for more school dances this year. We haven’t had ANY! If money is an issue, I’m sure most students would be totally fine just to use to turn the lights off in the gym and use the big speakers that they use for games and stuff. People can bring in their own little strobe lights.

I don’t agree
I think people would like to see the place for a dance look above and beyond.

Hahahahaha I like the strobe lights bit lol

Ok, obviously most students would like to have an “above and beyond” dance, but that money is going to (and should) be used for the prom. So, if there was going to be a spring dance for underclassmen or for the whole school, then of course Brashier isn’t going to have enough money to make it “above and beyond”, we’re a charter high school, and we don’t have a lot of money.
