Senor William Pouch looks around the Student Council meeting and immediately pulls up the roster and starts to take names off the list. Apparently, a hand-full of Student Council members are neglecting to show up for the meetings. “I was more disappointed than anything,” says Student Council Leader Senor Pouch. “There are things we need to accomplish in Student Council, but we can’t do that if the members don’t show up for the meetings.”
Some students felt that it was a good idea to remove the members that don’t participate in Student Council. Sophomore Danielle Greskamp said, “I think it’s ok that he removed them. They have a responsibility to show up and they aren’t.”
“I believe that it takes away our representation,” said agitated Sophomore Thomas Calamia. “If he takes away our reps. [representation], then we basically don’t have a voice.”
Pouch hopes eliminating those who weren’t participating will motivate the members that are working hard. “I believe that we can get something accomplished, now that we have members who are active in Student Council.”
Student Council is planning to hold elections at this end of this school year for next year’s office.
