Regarding the State of the Union speech that the President gave, I think that he has many good ideas. I’m really not sure how he is going to make all of it happen. He stated quite a few times that all his ideas wouldn’t start until 2011; my question is, “What are we to do until then?” There are many problems in the United States and I know it’s not possible to fix them all. Especially when the left and right side seem to be at odds about everything. The President did say that he was pleased with Congress based on the immigration reform. Which I agree, immigrants who are willing to pay taxes and follow the law should be able to “apply” for citizenship here in the U.S. One thing that I didn’t agree with was the fact that he wants to increase military services. Altogether the services will cost around $8 billion. In my opinion, military services are fine the way they are now. The money should be spent mainly on the economy and creating jobs that are very much needed. Overall, the President spoke very welll and approached every issue.

Obama’s state of the union address was ok. He, despite what others are saying, is spending the stimulus money in good ways so that good, hard working people can get a living. For example, a lady had a catering business and their dock was messed up so they got no business. But Obama’s stimulus money helped them rebuild the dock. Some people think that it was a waste of stimulus money to do that but I think that it helped that lady out alot and it was a good way to spend the money.

I did not agree with president Obama at all in that speech. If people knew where most of the stimulus went they change their mind about all of this. For Instance, in Florida, stimulus money was spent to make roads under roads for turtles to travle under. Thats all fine and dandy, but i though the money was for buisness and the economy, not to mention how much money went to SEIU or one of Andy Stern’s Orginizations. Also I have heard several different speechs and statements about how the stimulus has created so many jobs, but idk how many because the # of jobs went up and down for a week. Plus they are wanting a new stimulus bill, but instead, their going to call it the “Jobs Bill”, which i do not suport either.

    So in conclusion i didn’t agree w/ obama’s speech

My opinion of President Obama’s State of the Union Speech was great! As we all know the President is and excellent public speaker, he also has wonderful plans for America’s future. I think that America needs to stop putting so much pressure on Obama, because he has enough of that coming from every end. We must also be reminded that running the country is an extremely difficult job. Obama has many ideas for change that would make America different in so many ways, but they aren’t going to happen over night, everything is going to take time. We must also be remember that there are certain issues the president is addressing that are behind the scenes that we don’t really hear about. So, instead of constantly ridiculing him, be thankful for the little things. His plans for healthcare, education, and the war are touchy subjects for alot of people, but Obama is not just thinking about the best interest of US citizens now, but the children that are our future..

I agree with Obama that we should export more of our goods because the more products we make and sell to other countries the more jobs we support in America. I also agree with what he said about the taxes about how he is going to cut them for the working family and first time homebuyers and 8million Americans paying for college.

After watching State of the Union Speech and reading the comments posted one comment really reached out to me it was from Raven, she said ” I think that America needs to stop putting so much pressure on Obama, because he has enough of that coming from every end. We must also be reminded that running the country is an extremely difficult job “. I believe that this is such a true statement people believe that Obama is supposed to solve every problem in America but that is not the case we are called UNIITED States for a reason. There are so many issues and problems, not one man can solve everything i believe we need to stop solely relying on the governtment and looking for them to rescue us from all our probelems. Obama is doing a good job, and i think his ideas on bringing in jobs and exporting more goods to make ourselves a more self reliant country is a great start.

I thought President Obama’s State of the Union address was really good. However, I agree with Laura because I think he is promising a lot of things, most of which won’t even happen until next year. One issue Obama spoke about was bringing the troops home. I think that’s great, however, I don’t think it will happen by August. Guantanamo Bay was supposed to close already, and now it won’t be closed until next year. There are thousands of troops in Iraq alone, all of which will need to be pulled out in small groups, so I don’t see how all of them will be out in a period of only seven months.
