What do students think about Student Led Conferences?
(Do you think they are neccessary, do you think they are a waste of time, what do you think about the Student Led Conferences?)

i think the student led conferences are a good way for you to pull up your grade and know why your grade is the way it is.

I think the conferences are a waste of the students time and the teachers time, because you come in for 20 minutes to talk about your grades(usually the student could care less about figuring out why it is the way it is) and then you go home an do nothing. it a waste of the school day. I could be in school learning something of value.

I think the real issue here is that you say students don’t care about their grades. Why wouldn’t they care about grades when grades are so important for getting into a good college, finding scholarship money, etc?

Those of us who have good grades and don’t have issues in class, I think they’re a waste of time, but for those kids who need that extra little push and don’t have parents who are always pushing them to do better, they are good.

The conference has nothing to do with what the grades are or aren’t. The conferences are conducted under the supervision of an advisor, who may only have the student in that advisory period. It would be nice if during that advisory period, things like scholarships and opportunities for service hours were presented instead of “ice-breakers” or surveys.

I agree with Anonymous. our time is being wasted with those ice breakers/surveys when we could be getting information about scholarships and service hours (things we need rather than time consumers).
