“Now listen to me baby. Before I love and leave you. They call me heartbreaker. I don’t wanna deceive you. I’m only gonna break your heart.” Many Brashier students have felt the pain of these lyrics from the song Break Your Heart by Tiao Cruz ft. Ludacris. Heartbreaks happen every day. People write songs, poem, stories, and so much more about how their heart was broken.
Sophomore student John Dam just recently experienced the pain of a broken heart. “I didn’t talk as much. I was really quiet and didn’t laugh,” says Dam. Heartbreaks cause emotional problems that seem to affect students’ grades. “For like a week I was really sad. I didn’t feel like doing anything,” adds Dam.
Having your heart broken changes your daily life for a while. Sophomore Aleena Blasch now understands the changes in her life because her most recent break up. “I was very used to doing everything around him, and then when we stopped dating I had to change everything,” says Blasch. “It affected my grades more positively because I had more time on my hands.”
When people get broken up with, it hurts. The way you get broken up with makes a difference. Sophomore Vanessa Steadham’s most recent break up angered her because of the way it happened and because it was very unexpected. “This guy liked me for 9 months and the whole time I had a boyfriend. Then we finally started dating and a month and a half later we broke up. For me it was totally unexpected.” Steadham says. “He ended it at a party, which was pretty lame. I kinda went crazy at the party, but like in a bad way, haha. Then I was heartbroken I guess. Let’s see… it happened on Halloween, and I didn’t get over it until February,” adds Steadham.

I just ended it with my boyfriend because he changed. BIG TIME. I’m in love with the person he was, but I hate who he is now. It makes me cry because we could have been perfect with eachother if he hadn’t started hanging out with the wrong crowd. He didn’t want me, but he didn’t want to LEAVE me(again) so I just ended it. I guess its easier for everyone that way. I tried to get him back several times…well, the old him, and it never worked. I feel like I just wasted my time trying to fix things. “Break-ups are like broken mirrors…sometimes its easier to just leave the pieces than to hurt yourself trying to fix it.”
Sometimes i feel like I should have listened.

He is really cool to his friends…He’s pretty unpopular with mine though. It really did hurt. and I was sick of it. There really wasnt anything else I could do. I tried Everything! I just gave up in the end. and that hurts too.
