Brashier finally had its first pep rally! October 1, during 3rd period, students gathered in the brand new gym for games, rapping, and music. The volleyball, cross country, and girl’s golf teams were introduced to the student body.

Seniors Corey Glenn, Aaron Talmage, and Bobby Thomason rapped to raise school spirit. “That was my favorite part!” Junior Erin Slater said.

Overall, the students enjoyed the first pep rally, but several students gave their input as to what the school could do to improve future pep rallies. “I want someone to get pied in the face!” Junior Patrick Matthews said. “I think we should play better music, something other than Michael Jackson,” Junior James Gainous advised. Senior Neumann Jackson suggested, “Make it longer.” When asked how much having the school mascot present at the game would affect school spirit, Junior Jordan Greskamp said, “Definitely a big deal, we need to invest in a new one and get Emmanuel Houston to wear it. He’d be the perfect mascot.”

Some students were chosen to participate in two different games during the pep rally. The first involved students spinning several times around until way past the point of dizziness, then running down the court, attempting to shoot a basket, then running back. Students were falling down left and right. The second game was for couples; Sophmores JC Cavin and Vanessa Steadham, Sophmores Jamie Berggrun and Aleena Blasch,Juniors Aaron Harris and Brittany Douglas, Seniors Cole Davidson and Chricia Makielski played. While the guys sat in a chair with heads facing upwards, their partners stood behind, lifesavers in hand. The timer was set, and the girls licked the lifesavers and stuck them on the guy’s faces. When time was up, the guy with the most lifesavers on his face won. Aaron and Brittany won that game. The pep rally ended with the Seniors winning the new Spirit Stick.

“This year, with sports looking as good as they are, and having a full school, everybody is generally more excited.” observed Jordan Greskamp. With a few improvements, the next pep rally should be even better!

I don’t think E should be the mascot. He needs to be on the court playing ball!

That should be the next article, something about emmanuel(IE; should Emmanuel give dance lessons, or “Everyone loves Emmanuel,”
    ) he is awesome.
