Pep Rally #2 – Improvement?

Students cheer for the Dunk Contest

The crowd cheers wildly as Junior Jordan Greskamp runs down the court, making his game face, jumps up, then SLAM!, makes the basketball go through the hoop and smack the court. He is the winner of the first slam dunk contest in the ‘09-’10 schoolyear. This was only part of the 2nd pep rally this year, featuring the basketball teams.

Was this pep rally an improvement? “Yes, because their was a dunk contest and inflatable basketballs going around,” says Junior Dante Awe. “Absolutely,” says fellow Junior Emmanuel Nino, “it was much more entertaining than the last one.”

What about the Spirit Contest? The Seniors did win again, but is that just a coincidence? “The competition was rigged,” Nino says. While the Seniors may argue that the other classes are just jealous, there are still some Seniors that agree it was rigged.

It was really cool that the faculty got involved this time. Watching them get pied in the face was funny. “I think that they should try to involve more of the student body, not just the players,” says Awe. Yes, they should. Most of the focus should be put on the players, but to unify the whole student body, one of the main purposes of a pep rally, all students should be involved in some way. Our school is so small that it wouldn’t be too hard to do that.

So, all in all, the second pep rally was a success, but there is always going to be something that can be improved. Thanks to the student events committee and all the other people that put for alot of effort to make this pep rally possible.

oh heck yea, i completely agree with Blondie.. we should take advantage of the fact that we have a small school and get way more involved in our pep rally’s.. the senior’s especially need to get everyone pumped – we’re the leaders of the school.. our pep rally’s have been good so far but they could be GREAT.

I think our pep rally’s should be longer than 30 minutes long..
