Presidents’ Day

Presidents’ Day is the day no one cares about except for getting out of school.

You can ask any student at any school and the majority couldn’t care less about Presidents’ Day. Brashier Middle College Freshman Grayson Christian says,

“Hooray! I get out of school!”

Like I said, the majority of students couldn’t care less that it is our Presidents’ Day!

Eugene Kennedy, BMC Geography teacher says, “They will never give us every one of the Presidents’ Birthdays, so I am glad they at least gave us one day off.” Most students wouldn’t mind if we actually got out of school more often. Christian said, “I wouldn’t mind because then we would get out on all their birthdays!”

However a few students do care about Presidents’ Day. BMC Freshman Jeremiah Tesch says, “It is a good idea to honor our Presidents.”

Yes, but I mean come on how are we going to honor them by getting out of school? Students will not even think about Presidents’ Day! They are going to get up and play video games the whole day and won’t even think about it!

For example, you can ask almost anyone about who started Presidents’ Day and very few people could tell you that President Nixon started Presidents’ Day to celebrate everyone of the former Presidents’ Birthdays.

There are even fewer who actually have a favorite President. BMC Freshman Chris Smith says, “I like Lincoln because he helped to free the slaves.”

People should start taking a little bit of time to honor our former Presidents and remember all they gave to help this be a free nation, but I am still going to sleep in!
