It can take control of your life and can change your grades drastically. But students seem to embrace procrastination anyway. “Procrastination is not as bad as some people put it out to be. I work my best under pressure,” said Sophomore Austin Maxwell.
The truth is that procrastination is really dangerous. If you get behind, you won’t be able to finish your work, or something else that you need to do. You will just keep falling deeper and deeper into the hole, and pretty soon you will not be able to get yourself out of it.
“I think it’s a waste of time. Why stress out and do it at the last minute and fail, when you can do it well the first time.” stated Sam Watson. According to http://webhome.idirect.com/~readon/procrast.html, procrastination causes disorganization and fear. Why would you wait to the last minute to do anything important? Do you feel that:
- The assignment is a waste of time
- You may not be good enough
- Or you’re scared you won’t be able to finish it
Sooner or later it will pile up on you. Find ways to motivate yourself. Give yourself a pep talk in the mirror if that is what it takes. If you have problems motivating yourself to do something, go to http://www.howtomotivateyourself.net/. This website gives 10 ways you can motivate yourself to do your work
1. You have to believe in yourself and follow your gut instinct. Having confidence in your feelings and if something feels right then you should go for it.
2. Constantly challenge yourself to do better. Set up short, medium and long term goals to work towards and make a point of looking at them every day
3. Stop talking and do it! Turn your To Do lists into To Done lists. Make your best plans happen.
4. Stay focused! It’s easy to say but can be very hard to do. Concentrate on small goals at a time. Take small things that you can do and take time to reward yourself for getting your work done.
“I think that if you get your work done in the beginning, you won’t be as stressed out. Procrastination is really bad. I know that school is stressful, but it’s still something that you have to go through in life,” said Sophomore Stefanie Voss.
http://www.procrastinationinformer.com/why_procrastinate/four-reasons-why-procrastination-is-bad/ gives a few explanations on why procrastination is bad.
1. It’s a bad habit for your school life
2.It affects personal situations
- how would you feel if you couldn’t go out to see that new movie with your friends because you waited to the last minute to do your homework
3.Your friends could stop depending on you
4. No Peace
- You are always stressing out about the fact that you haven’t done any work
Problems like these will end up hurting you in the long run.

It is important to avoid procrastination during senior project.
