The sound of Christmas Carols blaring out of the radio on a cold winter’s night. The taste of chocolate with a surprise filling inside freshly picked from a heart shaped box. The smell of a rotten egg long after the hunt for it has been forgotten. These are the feelings we associate with our favorite holidays.
After growing up with the same holidays year after year, Brashier students find that new ideas begin to creep into their mind, like what their holiday would look like.
Brashier students say they would like to create their own holidays to celebrate in addition to Easter, Christmas, and Independence Day.
Junior Kara Beverly imagines a Flower Day as her holiday. “It’s a day where everybody gives each other a flower,” she says.
Beverly says this exciting holiday will take place every May 3.
Another student who has ideas about a holiday is Junior Nick Linville, who came up with National Free Day.
“On June 1, you get anything you want for free.”
However, there is a downside to this wonderful holiday Linville says with a sheepish grin. “A lot of stores will go out of business.”
