Brashier Middle College Charter High School held their first official sports awards ceremony Tuesday May 12, 2009.

The awards ceremony kicked off with BMC Principle Mike Sinclair welcoming the students and their parents. The ceremony took place at the new wellness center, LivN Nsidout. BMC Freshman Shelby White said, “It was good to have all the athletes recognized and not just the ones who got special awards.”

BMC Soccer Assistant Coach Quincy Belk says the best game they played this year was the “ninth game of the season against Ware Shoals. [They] ran a six to zero lead in the second half to win the game six to two.” The BMC soccer team went on to finish their first season with four wins and six loses.

“It was a wonderful first season!” said BMC Baseball Player Ben Villaverde. The baseball team did well this year finishing out the season with seven wins and seven loses.

“This year we actually had a set schedule unlike last year,” said BMC Junior Kaitlin Holtzclaw. The girl’s volleyball team finished the season with zero wins and ten losses.

BMC Sophomore and cross country runner Michael Anderson said that their best meet was against “Southside because we did a lot better than I thought we would.” The cross country team finished with Savannah Cook as the top girl runner and Jacob Millet was the top guy runner.

BMC Freshman Summer Cosper said she wanted to “see [the] golf teams improve and to win more matches.”

BMC Basketball Head Coach Scott Cavin said the best game they played was against “St. Mathias because the last two seasons that we played them we lost by forty and fifty points and we only lost by two points this season at the buzzer. We actually had a chance to beat them.” The BMC basketball team finished out the season with twelve wins and eleven loses.
