Brashier Middle College Charter High School will be hosting the Robotics Soccer Scrimmage February 20, 2010.

Teams from all over the country will be participating in the Robotics Competition in Atlanta, Georgia this summer. However BMC will be hosting a scrimmage for the local teams here in South Carolina. The closest team that will be in the competition will be from the main Greenville Tech Campus. (Information provided by Mark Hapstack from the Greenville Tech Campus)

The scrimmage is usually held at the Greer Campus, but it is closer to home this year because Brashier Middle College Charter High School (the High School on the Brashier Technical College’s Campus grounds) will be hosting it because it is closer to Greenville Tech.

Each team will have three robots they will have to build, one for each section of the soccer field. Once the teams have started the robots will be able to move from one area to another. Points are gained by getting a soccer ball into the goals positioned on each end of the field. During the first half the students who are participating will be controlling the robots, but during the second half the robots will be playing by themselves. In the last few minutes of the game the robots will have to try to elevate themselves off the ground to score more points. Teams will be awarded two points if the robot is off the ground, but you will get three points if one robot is elevated and another uses the first elevated robot to elevate it-self.
