Project C.O.M.M.A.N.D will move the basic internet safety presentation to February 27.They planned to have a basic internet safety class on Monday, February 13. However, nobody showed up to watch the presentation.
Brashier Middle College Systems Administrator Geoff Getty said, “This presentation came from our ideas of what a student needs to be prepared for technology use in college, as well as several parents had asked about where they could get some basic computer training.”
Project C.O.M.M.A.N.D. decided that the lack of an audience on February 13 could have been due to less advertisement on the announcements, or the timeframe didn’t work out with parents’ jobs. It was announced on the morning announcements, but was only on the Sunday night phone calls that day before it would have taken place.
Getty said, “I’m hopeful the class will benefit parents who feel confused or intimidated by technology by making them more confident to understand and protect themselves against online threats.”
The presentation will cover basic internet safety, protecting a computer from viruses and spyware, and basic necessities one might need for their computer.
Getty said, “This is an opportunity for Project COMMAND members to sharpen their presentation skills, and establish their role in our community.”
