Old vs. New Skyline

The Nissan Skyline is back. It’s made in America now and it’s legal!

In the past, the Skyline was legal to import and haul around, but not to drive. After the “Clean Air and Water Act,” introduced by President Nixon, the Skyline became illegal because it did not meet U.S. Emissions standards. This car gives off too many harmful gases. Some of the tail-pipe pollutants include Non-Methane Organic gases, Carbon Monoxide, different Oxides of Nitrogen, Particulate Matter, and Formaldehyde, which are very harmful to humans and the environment (www.epa.gov/lawsregs/laws/index.html).

During the 1970’s, the Environmental Protection Agency made regulations about these emissions. They said the regulations would be in effect until most, if not all, of the smog is gone.

Nissan stopped making the Skyline in 2002, but started back with their masterpiece in 2007. The new Skyline GTR is now made in America. With it being made in America, they are able to make it with the qualifications to be legal. It took them over a year to perfect it, but its here. You can place an order for it now, but it isn’t out on the car lot yet. Coming to you soon, 2009 GTR.
