Joy Smith is a math teacher at Brashier Middle College Charter High School. “Mrs. Smith is eager to explore innovative methods of teaching her courses. Her Geometry students are using novels to better understand several concepts,” says Mike Sinclair, principal at BMC. Joy Smith is not like traditional math teachers in that she has her own way of teaching. “One day, we went outside and we had a box full of jacks and other things we used to make numbers,” said Gloria Biggers, a freshman at BMC. Her teaching style is what makers her different from others also. “I like how she teaches outside the box. She doesn’t use a traditional style of teaching,” said Chante Cruell, a History teacher at BMC.
Joy Smith loves and enjoys helping students. “When I have a question, after class she will go out of her way to help me. She writes notes for me to help me understand the materials,” said Biggers.
