Rain and wind, sun and snow. Whether you know it or not the weather affects your mood.
A study done in Germany over a period of a few months shows that the weather does in fact affect your mood. The study showed that temperature, wind and sunlight were found to have an effect on negative mood. Sunlight seemed to play a role on how tried people said they were. All though Junior Amber Jennings said, “The sun makes me feel happy and warm and fuzzy.” Junior Dakotah Osborn said, “I don’t like the sun, it’s hot and bright.”
The wind, according to the study, has more of a negative effect on mood in spring and summer, than in fall and winter.
Jennings also added that she did not like the wind because, “it makes my hair go in mouth.”
The study also showed that the length of the days also affect a person’s mood. Also people who begin to get darker moods as the days get shorter may be at a higher risk for seasonal affective disorder, or SAD.
But the study did not include how much time the people spent outside, so there are some limitations to it.
The study did not seem to include rain either, but Sophomore Hillary Clark said, “The rain makes me want coffee and chocolate.”
