Tech Club All Nighter

The sound of beeping, shouts of “Boom, Headshot!” and the flashing lights of TVs and computer screens fill the senses. This was the scene of the Brashier Middle College Charter High School Tech Club’s first lock-in. A lock-in is an overnight party at some sort of business or location. It gets its name from the idea you’re “locked in” on the premises. This particular lock-in was held in LFG Gaming, a popular teen hangout in Mauldin, where there are Xboxes and gaming PCs to play video games over an internet connection. A good number of students from the tech club and a few invited friends showed up. School systems administrator and Tech Club sponsor Geoff Getty said “ My best estimate is 25 students came and 2 staff members. We probably had about another 3 to 4 guests of students. I think about 15 spent the night.”“It was a lot of fun,” said Mark Fevrin, “I got a lot of good shots in, including Mrs. Yon.” That’s right, as well as students, Mrs. Yon, English teacher, showed up for some good-natured shooting at her students.
“I thought the lock-in went great! The students did an excellent job of behaving well and representing the school. I’m also amazed each time at how supportive they are of each other, helping players learn new games, cheering each other on, and engaging in friendly competition,” Getty said. He talked about setting a lock-in at LFG Gaming every quarter.
