Backpacks are open, and classes are in session. Looking at the calendar, there are no upcoming breaks in sight. It’s February already, and second semester is in full swing! Christmas break has come and gone, settling students back into the swing of things at BMC. With the school year half way over, students are reflecting on first semester and setting new goals to end their year well.
Sophomore, Audrey Salaita, says, “I learned a lot first semester. I’ve learned how to write better papers in English, and have set a goal to get all A’s this semester.”
Many students share her common goal: better grades. Grades seem to be becoming even more important to Brashier students in the second semester, as they work harder to finish the year with great marks for their transcripts.
Sophomore Jacob Russell says, “I’m going to try to do better than I did in first semester. That is going to be the hardest part: getting my grades up.”
Sophomore Courtney Shorkey has her own individual goals.
“I feel okay about this semester, but I would change a couple classes if I could. I want to make above an 80 on my final exams,” says Shorkey.
Freshman Breylen Smith agrees, and has the same achievement in mind.
“[My classes] are going to be harder this semester. I’ll have to study more, but I want to make all of my grades above an 80,” says Smith.
Even with the differing goals for academics, Brashier students all seem to have one common goal: to make it through the semester and it finally be summer again.
With a laugh, Shorkey says, “I think the best thing about this semester will be the end of it. I’m so ready for summer.”
